App development in weeks, not quarters.

For businesses that needed an app last quarter. iOS, Android and web apps with a clear scope, shipped in weeks, that customers keep on their home screen.

App development

“We need an app. We needed it last quarter.” Then it went into a six-month programme and a 200-page deck, and by the end nobody could remember what it was for.

The river at Cuckmere Haven takes the scenic route to the sea. We don’t. We agree what version one has to do, fix the price, and get it into your customers’ hands in weeks. Everything that isn’t needed for launch waits for version two.

We build native iOS and Android apps, web apps that run on any phone, and the back office behind them. The app is the part customers see; the system behind it is the part that saves you time. We’re based in Seaford, and we build for businesses across Sussex and well beyond it.

Version one should do the few things customers will use every day, and do them properly. The rest can wait until real customers have shown you what they want, which costs less than guessing.

What we build

What we build

Barn Gym member dashboard: quick buttons to log a check-in, a workout or food, the member's goals and coach, upcoming sessions and a workout streak

Member apps and portals

Barn Gym, a personal training and group fitness gym in Burwash, had no single place for members to log training, food, photos and measurements. We built one: set-by-set logging with personal records, a macro calculator, check-ins, progress photos and streaks, and a dashboard that opens on today’s sessions and the member’s coach. Coaches build plans from a 205-exercise library and a 120-meal database. It’s one platform, about 50,000 lines of code across roughly 85 database tables, replacing a paid community tool and separate booking software, and it’s now becoming a product for other gyms.

Booking and scheduling

Bookings are where an app earns its keep. Barn Gym’s platform handles class, PT and consultation bookings with automated waitlists, so a cancelled place can be filled without anyone ringing round. It runs coach schedules and time off, and a public booking page with a pre-consultation health form and coach approval. Before, coach diaries and time off lived outside any system. Now the owner sees it all in one admin, with dashboards, bulk actions, spreadsheet export and analytics for each coach.

Barn Gym coach portal: Monday of an AI-written meal plan, with the day's calories and macros, each meal's ingredients and a button to generate the full week

AI inside the app

Barn Gym’s coaches used to write every client’s meal plan by hand. In the coach portal, AI now writes a full week of meals in seconds, using Google’s Gemini; the coach checks it, regenerates any day that isn’t right, and builds the member’s plan from there. AI drafts, the coach decides. Your team uses AI without having to learn it, because it’s a button in a tool they already open every day. The same pattern works for workout plans, quotes and reports.

Communities you own

Live Happy’s members-only community has posts, comments, reactions, mentions, search and moderation, with access set by membership tier, all in the same codebase as the website. Barn Gym’s has spaces, channels, challenges, polls and events, plus messaging between coaches and members. Moderation is built in, so the owner decides what stays up, and search means a good answer from last spring can still be found this winter. Your members stay on your platform and your brand, and their data stays yours rather than a rented tool’s.

Native iOS and Android apps

When customers need you on their home screen, with notifications, the camera or offline use, a native app is the right call. We build for iOS and Android the same way we build everything else: an agreed version one, a working build early, and the back office wired in from the start. The code and the store accounts are in your name. And if a web app would do the job for less, we’ll tell you before you spend anything.

How it works with us

How it works with us

01

The review call

Twenty to thirty minutes. We find where time and money leak, and which fix pays for itself first.

02

A fixed-price proposal

One scope, one price, one date, with the value case written next to the price. No hourly meter running.

03

Built in weeks

You see progress every week on a working link, not a slide. You can change your mind while it is cheap.

04

Handover, or we run it

You own the code, the data and the accounts. Run it yourselves, or we run it for you.

Questions people ask

Questions people ask

Do we need a native app, or will a web app do?

It depends on what customers do with it. If it lives on their home screen and leans on the phone itself, go native. If they log in to book, track or pay, a web app often does the job, works on every phone on launch day and skips the app store queue. We’ll tell you which on the review call, and why.

How long does an app take to build?

Weeks, with a clear scope. The proposal fixes what’s in version one and the date it ships, and you can use the app as it’s being built, long before launch. Anything that isn’t needed on day one goes on the list for version two, which is how apps actually ship. You’ll know the date before you sign anything.

Who owns the app?

You do. The code is in your repository from day one, and the hosting, the database and the app store listings sit in your accounts. If you bring development in-house later, your team picks it up from there, with nothing to buy back. The store listing, its reviews and its download history stay with your business, not with whoever built it.

What does an app cost?

A fixed price, quoted after the free review call, once we know what version one has to do. Apps vary more than websites, so any number we published would be wrong for most of them. The proposal shows what the app should earn or save, so the price has something to stand next to. For a web app on Cloudflare, hosting afterwards stays near zero.

Can you add AI to an app?

Yes, where it removes a chore rather than adding a gimmick. Drafting plans, summarising check-ins, sorting messages, answering routine questions from your own information: AI drafts, a person on your team approves, and the member or customer sees the finished version. Barn Gym’s meal planner is the model: the coach presses one button, checks the week and makes it their own.
